How much does an Edinburgh trip cost?
Edinburgh can suit most budgets. A solo budget traveller staying in a hostel dorm can manage on around £55–70 per day. Mid-range couples sharing a B&B or 3-star hotel should budget £100–160 per person per day including meals and a couple of paid attractions. The biggest variables are accommodation — Edinburgh hotels peak sharply in August during the Fringe and Military Tattoo — and the number of paid attractions (Edinburgh Castle, whisky distillery tours, Royal Yacht Britannia). Many of the best free activities — Arthur's Seat, the Royal Mile, the National Museum of Scotland — rival anything you'd pay for.
